We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Corporate Media Relations, Asia Pacific.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Regional Head of Communications for Asia-Pacific locally and functionally to Head of External Communications, Global Communications, the role holder will be a member of the Communications Management Committee, Asia-Pacific.
  • Responsible for managing HSBC’s reputation in the region and playing a key leadership role within the Communications regional hub.
  • Drive the Asia-Pacific reputation and positioning by delivering a proactive media relations strategy that is aligned to HSBC’s global communications strategy and the requirements of the Global Businesses.
  • Work seamlessly with the wider regional Communications hub and provide leadership and guidance to country Communications teams on the execution of the region’s media relations strategy.
  • Oversee media relations activity across the region, driving consistency, best practice and alignment to the regional and global strategies.
  • Actively engage with functional and business peers to build and safeguard the reputation of HSBC regionally, including in-depth understanding and risk escalation of business and customer trends that could impact the businesses’ reputation and performance.
  • Anticipate and identify issues that may have an impact on the Region and provide insight, analysis and counsel to senior managers and the Regional Head of Communications.
  • Provide key regional stakeholders with informed counsel on all media relations matters.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with core media in the region.
  • Established relationships with key contacts across region media in Asia-Pacific
  • Track record of working for a large, complex international organisation, with stakeholder contact being required at country, regional and global levels.
  • Sufficient seniority and credibility to represent HSBC with key international media.
  • Strong influencing and leadership skills including the ability to mobilise resources across markets in Asia Pacific.
  • Credibility with senior management stakeholders.
  • Proven crisis communications skills and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of global banks and the broader financial services marketplace.
  • Excellent writing skills with proven ability to produce clear, engaging narrative.
  • Experience of executing global campaigns across multiple markets.
